Hello, you hungry nerds!

Hello, you hungry nerds!

This is very exciting, as this is my first blog. So I don't mean to use the term "nerd" offensively. I am actually using it to be inclusive and hope to join you all in the nerd community with my internet involvement. Please be kind...

In return, I promise to provide feasting advice and information while I inform you of my cooking and eating endeavours (obviously a fair trade).

Here's the scoop on my blogging life:

The love of eating is something I was either born with or learned from my family (I am pretty sure they care more about where I had the best pizza in New York than how I did in my last calculus class). Cooking for my meals started when Esedio, the boyfriend, and I realized we have no money (as most university students do) and cannot eat out at restaurants as often as we used to (cough cough, at least once a day). So now "we" are cooking more meals and trying to freeze them for later in the week when we try to use the "we have no time" excuse to go to a restaurant. The term "we" is used loosely here as Esedio feels that saying "mmmmm" and eating half of what I cook is his part in this endeavour.

The idea of a blog all started when I ran out of stuff to do this summer and feel that I have always been limited in life with the fact I don't eat beef. Okay, so this really only limits me on not getting mad cow and I cannot be a food critic. But seriously, being a food critic would be sweet! Why? Because you just get to eat all the time and tell people why it's awesome. Apparently the internet world has already learned you can tell everybody about awesome food and you don't need to eat beef! What a sweet world we live in!

I also feel a bit like a champion because I made a blog on my own, unlike Creed on The Office who ended up with a Word document (what a sucker).

So on with the food!

Usually supper time is when I get super hungry. But my supper time lasts from about 3pm-11pm. So in that time, I need to find food to eat (preferably good food!). Today Edesio and I caved and got ice cream at the Cone Shoppe, the superior ice cream place in Guelph because they have a very good selection, super nice staff and chocolate waffle cones. They lost points for not having chocolate waffle cones but gained some back for having a new ice cream flavour, Dutch Apple Pie. I don't really like apple pie so I don't think it was a good choice. Maybe a chocolate waffle cone would make it better...

For supper we were going to get pizza but then got too lazy (and scared of the rain) to go pick it up and don't want to pay for delivery. So I remembered I had some strawberries in the fridge (obviously local is the way to go!) and made some crepes. My sister and I found this recipe about 2 years ago when my mom went crazy and brought boxes of strawberries home every day and we didn't know what to do with all of them.

I didn't have any milk (except for some expired goat milk in the fridge) so I used half a cup of leftover cream instead. It was pretty good. PS. this recipe has weird instructions so just put the damn cream in the flour first and add the butter and eggs (already whisked) after. I always get lumps when I follow the actual instructions. As the crepes are cooked, I melted cooking chocolate on them.

So we had a plate of crepes with some cut up strawberries (sometimes I microwave them but they were too good and we were too hungry for that). It was a pretty good supper. It may have also been the first time I ate fruit and vegetables in a few days... so it may have been necessary too! Not a big dinner and now after writing about it, I am a bit more hungry. Maybe it's time for the freezer food... Yay mozzarella sticks from M&M!

Blogging is fun. I write about what I ate and you read it. Cool! Lots of love and keep up food in the strawberry season!

As if I've been watching Food Network this whole time :P lame...
